Foremost, members enjoy friendship with their club brothers and a feeling of unity with other Levi/leather clubs throughout the country. We enjoy being active participants and a positive influence in the greater gay community.

Prospective members begin by attending Gateway events and getting to know the people involved. To apply for membership, they must attend three Gateway meetings within a six month period and at least one official club function between such meetings. Two full members must then endorse and verbally present the applicant for membership to the club, and the applicant must complete a written application.

The application period for full membership is no less than three months, during which the applicant must attend at least half of all business meetings and at least one club function, and must pass a test of the by-laws. Applicants then become eligible for full membership after a 3/4 majority vote by all the voting members.

Along with full members, Gateway has several other classes of membership. Alumnus and Emeritus members are former members of the club who no longer participate fully but who want to retain their association with Gateway. Associates are members of other clubs who enjoy friendship and activities with Gateway. Honorary and Honorary Associate membership is granted to friends of Gateway who have contributed to our club in special ways.

Gateway believes that all its members have a right to think and act as individuals without fear of being ostracized. Gateway does not discriminate because of age, race, or religious or political beliefs. It accepts all of its members and members of other clubs as part of the Levi/leather family in the gay community.
